Restoration improves the visible surface but cannot guarantee removal of every deep stain, structural crack or colour difference. Loose stone, movement below the floor, severe breakage and moisture-related damage may require repair or replacement before finishing. Removing an old sealer or coating can also change how the stone reads, so a restored floor may look different rather than simply brighter. Travertine is porous by nature, so new voids can open as the surface wears and periodic refilling may be needed.
