Bedroom Renovation With a Balcony Extension
A bedroom extended by enclosing the balcony, filmed on site by Primo.
What a Bedroom Renovation With Primo Covers
Most bedroom projects fall into three areas. A quotation can cover one of them or all three.
Storage and Joinery
Fitted and walk-in wardrobes, headboard walls, dressing units and shelving — measured on site and built to the room rather than to a standard carcass size.
Surfaces and Finishes
Flooring, skirting, ceilings, cornice, wall panelling and paintwork, including making good after joinery and services work.
Behind the Walls
Lighting circuits, switches and sockets, air-conditioning outlets, and any partitions or openings the new layout needs.
Redecorate, Refit or Reconfigure?
Not every bedroom needs a full renovation. This is how we separate the three, so you can see which one your room actually calls for.
How a Bedroom Renovation Runs
Site visit
We measure the room, look at the existing joinery, flooring and services, and go through what you want changed.
Scope and quotation
You receive a written quotation itemised by trade, so you can see what each part costs and remove anything you do not want.
Selections
Finishes are chosen and confirmed before work starts — flooring, paint, wardrobe fronts, handles and lighting.
Strip out and protection
Existing joinery and finishes are removed, and the rest of the property is protected and sheeted before any dusty work begins.
Services and builder’s work
Partitions and any electrical or air-conditioning alterations are completed first, then walls and ceilings are made good.
Joinery, finishes and handover
Wardrobes are installed, flooring and paintwork completed, the room cleaned, and we walk it with you before closing the job.
What Affects Your Quotation
We do not publish bedroom renovation prices, because these are the things that actually move the number. A site visit is what turns them into a figure.
Room size and wardrobe run
Joinery is usually priced by the linear metre of wardrobe and by height, so a longer run matters more than a larger floor area.
Internal fit-out
Drawers, soft-close hardware, internal lighting, glass fronts and dedicated shoe or accessory storage each add cost to the same carcass.
Whether the layout changes
Moving partitions, sockets, switches or air-conditioning outlets adds trades to the job. Keeping the layout keeps the scope narrow.
Materials and finish level
Laminate, veneer, lacquer and stone-topped units are all available, and the gap between them is one of the largest variables in any quotation.
Condition of what is already there
Damaged plaster, uneven floors or previous alterations may need correcting before new finishes can go on.
Occupied or empty property
Working around a family in occupation means more protection, more phasing and shorter working windows than an empty unit.
Primo does not quote a bedroom renovation without seeing the room. Anything priced from photographs alone will change once someone measures it.
What to Send With Your Enquiry
The more of this you can send up front, the more useful the first conversation is.
- Photographs of the room, including inside the existing wardrobes
- Rough room dimensions, or the property’s floor plan if you have one
- Whether it is an apartment or a villa, and which community
- Which parts you want changed and which should stay
- Any reference images of the look you are after
- When you would like work to start, and whether the property is occupied

Bedroom Renovation Questions
Can I keep the existing wardrobes and change everything else?
Yes. If the carcasses are sound, replacing only the doors, handles and internal fittings is often enough, and it costs considerably less than a full refit. We will say on the site visit whether the existing joinery is worth keeping.
Can a walk-in wardrobe be added to an existing bedroom?
Often, yes — it depends on the room’s dimensions and where the services and openings sit. This is one of the things we check and confirm on the site visit before it goes into a quotation.
Do you build the wardrobes or supply them?
Both are possible. Fitted joinery is made to the measured dimensions of the room, and supplied units can be installed instead where that suits the budget or the timeline better.
Will the rest of the property be liveable during the work?
In most cases the work is contained to the bedroom, with the surrounding areas sheeted and protected. Where that is not practical we will tell you before you commit, not after work starts.
Can I supply my own materials?
Yes. Clients regularly supply their own flooring, handles or light fittings. We will confirm what is needed and when it has to be on site so it does not hold up the programme.
How do I get a bedroom renovation quotation?
Send photographs and rough dimensions on WhatsApp, or call us. We arrange a site visit, and the quotation comes back in writing, itemised by trade.
